Ken Roczen took a dominant main event victory at the weekend, winning the iconic Daytona round of the AMA Supercross Championship.
Aboard his Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki RM-Z450 Roczen took a convincing heat race win before making a strong start in the main event, holding fourth in the early laps.
Approaching the halfway point of the race Roczen hit the afterburners and in the space of four laps had made three overtakes and assumed the race lead. From there he was never headed, despite a late race challenge from his nearest pursuer, and took the chequered flag to take his 75th career AMA Supercross win.
"I honestly can’t believe it," Roczen said after the win. "I really put my head down, and I had some really good lines. When you make those passes, you have to put your head down or they will retaliate and come back. This is definitely up there as one of my best main event wins ever. It’s pretty surreal."
