Ken Roczen took another AMA Supercross podium finish at the weekend, finishing second in the main event at Detroit. The result was his third runner-up finish of the season and his fourth podium from six rounds.
After a crash at the previous round in Tampa - which happened when Roczen was cutting through back markers - this result propelled the German back into the top three in the championship standings.
After a good launch from the gate Roczen hit the front of the main event and controlled the pace, as he and a single pursuer pulled away from the rest of the pack.
He held onto the lead, despite being embroiled in a battle for victory, until the final minute, but ultimately lost out and took the chequered flag in second place.
It means he has finished on the podium four times in six races, with a lowest finish of fourth, discounting the crash at round five.
Roczen commented, "I knew I had to rebound quickly after what happened in Tampa or else it would be a drag. So I had to execute in Detroit, and I did that. It’s awesome being in it. I think this race was important for me and I’m happy with how it went. Everything is good and we still have a lot of racing to go."
