Roczen dominates St. Louis supercross

Roczen celebrates winning in St. Louis

Ken Roczen dominated the St. Louis supercross at the weekend, taking his second main event win in a row to narrow the gap at the top of the points standings. With five rounds to go he now sits just five points off the championship lead.

Roczen won his heat race aboard his Progressive Insurance Suzuki RM-Z450, and made a good start in the main event. On the opening lap he battled with two other riders to assume control of the race, and have moving into second place, a couple of corners later he made a strong move for the lead.

From there he was never headed and steadily pulled away from the chasing pack, extending his advantage to over 12 seconds to take a commanding win. He also extended his record as the rider with the most main event laps led this season.

Roczen said after his win, "It was a brutal day. The track was unexpectedly soft compared to when we were here during the SMX Playoff. It made for some crazy racing because it was built really tall, we had some really tricky rhythm lanes, and I just knew that the track, in 20 minutes, was going to get really torn up.

"But, we won qualifying, won our heat race, and then it was just such a dream ride in the main event to bring home first place again. I'm just really on a high right now. I'm really trying to take this in, enjoy this, I’m enjoying every bit of it. But, at the same time, I know I need to stay focused and that's what we're going to do."
