Ramette and SR75 Suzuki third in AX World Tour

Arenacross World Tour Main Event start

Three-time Arenacross UK champion Thomas Ramette clinched third place in the standings in this year's Arenacross World Tour after the finale in Abu Dhabi at the weekend.

Onboard his SR75 Suzuki RM-Z450 Ramette's night in the Etihad Arena got off to a rough start with a big crash in untimed practice. He was then on the floor again in qualifying after hitting tough blocks thrown onto the track by another rider.

Despite the challenging start, the French ace still recorded the third quickest time in qualifying, and backed it up with second and a fourth in his two heat races to comfortably transfer directly into the main event.

After the gate dropped for the main event Ramette grabbed the holeshot and led the pack. Though he would drop to second, he kept the pressure on the race leader and was edging away from the group behind. Unfortunately the red flags came out following a crash that left bikes in the track, and the race was restarted.

In the re-run Ramette rode a considered race to take third place overall and cement himself in the championship top-three.

He said afterwards, "It was a tough weekend. Maybe one of the toughest  in my career. But, I know if I give my best my team are always happy and will give their 100%. I gave everything I had for this podium and as always my bike was amazing and to once again be on the podium is something I dreamt of leading up to this race.

"Thanks to everyone involved in SR75 Suzuki and Arenacross World Tour for all these amazing memories."

Team owner Geoff Walker added, "What a night. Thomas was incredible as I thought our day was over as I witnessed him cartwheel onto the track. The guy never gave in and to show the true SR75 spirit and nail that holeshot in the main event was insane. I am over the moon to see Thomas grab that third overall on the championship podium.

"The Suzuki RM-Z450 was unreal as always and a massive thanks to Dean and everyone in the team for being here with us for this one and thanks to all of our team partners. Finally, congratulations to Adrian Escoffier for winning the championship with a class performance."
