Barry Sheene has been inducted into the MotoGP Hall of Fame.
The 1976 and 1977 world champion was inducted at a special event held in London ahead of last weekend's British GP.
Sheene was already considered a MotoGP legend, after winning two world titles with XR14 factory version of Suzuki's legendary RG500. He was on the podium in his first 125cc race in 1971 and the same was true for his 500cc debut in 1974. His first win came at the Dutch TT in 1975, which was the first of 19 wins and 40 podiums in the premier class over nine full seasons.
Sheene transcended the sport, and was a popular figure around the world for his personality and charisma.
His son, Freddie, attended the event in London to receive the Hall of Fame medal from MotoGP Group CEO Carmelo Ezpeleta.
